WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca marked a pivotal weekend for SP Motorsports, as the team returned to its home circuit surrounded by an incredible show of support from family, friends, and partners. Coming off a strong test program, confidence was high across the board, with both the No. 27 and No. 74 Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 entries showing promising pace and balance. Free Practice 1 reinforced that optimism, with all drivers reporting strong performance and comfort in the cars. Adjustments made ahead of Free Practice 2, however, did not yield the expected gains, sending the team back to the data to regroup ahead of qualifying. Early morning qualifying conditions proved challenging, with cold temperatures and light mist delaying tire warm-up and grip levels. An early red flag cut the session short for Daniel Morillo and Joaquin Morillo, leaving the No. 27 car P11 in Pro class (P15 overall), while the No. 74 car faced a similarly disrupted session. In the second qualifying outing, Jaden Conwright capitalized on improved tire conditions to deliver a standout 1:23.166 lap, placing the No. 27 car P3 in Pro class and P4 overall, while Paul Whiting secured P7 in AM class (P30 overall) for the No. 74.

Race 1 brought rising temperatures and a constantly interrupted rhythm due to multiple Full Course Yellows, challenging team strategy and race flow. Joaquin and Daniel executed strong opening stints despite the disruptions, handing over to Jaden and Paul during a clean and efficient pit sequence. Jaden immediately began carving through the field in the No. 27 car, gaining several positions before suffering a puncture exiting the Corkscrew. The team reacted quickly, bringing the car in for a rapid left rear tire change and sending him back out to salvage the race. Despite a determined recovery drive, the No. 27 finished P10 in class and P26 overall. In the No. 74, Paul Whiting delivered a composed and persistent performance, battling through traffic and overcoming time lost behind competitors to secure P6 in AM class and P23 overall.

Race 2 showed early promise, with Jaden lining up on the second row in the No. 27 and Paul starting P30 overall in the No. 74. Jaden launched a strong charge at the front, fighting his way into podium contention and reaching P3 overall before contact at the exit of Turn 2 resulted in another puncture. Forced to pit early, he rejoined the race and once again fought his way back through the field in a relentless recovery effort. Meanwhile, the No. 74 encountered misfortune of its own, suffering a mechanical issue following the driver change that ultimately forced the team to retire the car. At the checkered flag, the No. 27 secured P10 in class and P19 overall, capping off a weekend defined by resilience, speed, and determination in front of a home crowd.
Despite the challenges, SP Motorsports demonstrated clear pace and race-winning potential throughout the weekend. With strong support behind them and valuable lessons learned, the team leaves Laguna Seca focused, motivated, and ready to convert performance into results in the next round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo season.
